Insight is better than eyesight when it comes to seeing an angel" ~Eileen Elias Freeman

Workshop Description ~

In this 2+ day workshop,  Kate will be demonstrating her painting techniques using plaster layered wood panels as the substrate.  You will learn how to layer plaster, apply stencils, sand and finally,  add paint to create a rich and mysterious background.  We will work on a collage angel as well as painting a close up portrait with a relief halo created by plaster and palette knives.

Kate will provide a variety of angel images for inspiration, ranging from religious/spiritual down to the angel that has been a bit fractured (Kate's favorite).  She also has a beautiful collection of images on Pinterest which she will share too.

Location~

Bainbridge Island is a short 35 minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle.  This very popular destination is the perfect place for a getaway.  With it's stunning natural beauty and gourmet restaurants and to it's quaint shops and cozy cafes, Winslow has something to offer for everyone. While we will be at Wacky Nut Farm for most of our time together,  there is time in the schedule for some exploration around the island.   If your schedule allows for more time in this area, you will find an endless list of things of great things to do and explore.

Our workshop will be held at Wacky Nut Farm (great name eh?).  A sustainably designed, environmentally friendly equestrian facility, guest house and art studio.  The 20-acre farm is situated on a sunny hillside, tucked into a quiet, peaceful location above Blakely Harbor.  It truly is the perfect backdrop for creative exploration.
